Surgical Technology

Study the techniques involved in keeping surgical patients safe, while effectively managing surgical equipment and assisting the surgeon during procedures.

The Gwinnett Tech Surgical Technology program provides opportunity for an exciting career behind the doors of the operating room. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts a 15% job growth for surgical technologists from 2014-2024. Our Surgical Technology program provides preparation for a career in this field with well-rounded core and technical courses. In this program, you will study the techniques involved in keeping the surgical patient safe, while effectively managing surgical equipment and assisting the surgeon during procedures. Coursework includes classroom instruction, hands-on guidance in technologically advanced labs, and clinical rotations in area hospitals.

The program currently has a 100% pass rate in the last ten graduating classes on the National Certification Exam, earning the Certified Surgical Technologist credential awarded by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredits Gwinnett Tech’s Surgical Technology program upon the recommendation of the Accrediting Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARCSTSA).
