Gwinnett Rotary Club Awards $1,000 Grant To Hudgens Early Education Center

Grant Supports Playground Turf Replacement Project

LAWRENCEVILLE – The Rotary Club of Gwinnett County has granted Gwinnett Tech $1,000 toward the purchase of new playground turf for the infant playground at the College’s D. Scott Hudgens, Jr. Early Education Center.
A quality indicator for early childhood care is learning and using the outdoor environment as an extension of the indoor classroom. Children need time outside to explore nature and enjoy the many activities that can be experienced outside. Research indicates children who go outside during their day will be healthier over time and, more immediately, reduce the spread of germs within the early education environment. The Hudgens Center’s playgrounds are as important as the indoor classrooms and are utilized each day, for all ages.

Michael S. Price, Foundation Chair says, “This generous gift from the Rotary Club of Gwinnett will enable many of Gwinnett Tech’s smallest students to enjoy great playtime.” This investment helps give parents the peace of mind that their children are well-cared for on our campus.”

This grant to Gwinnett Tech is part of the Club’s generous gifting of $10,000 in charitable grants to the community.

Club President Marlon Allen said, “It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that we award these grants in support of so many great causes. Rotary’s theme this year is ‘Be A Gift to the World.’ By sharing these grant dollars with our community we are giving back in a big way to make the world a better place for those in need around us. This is what being Rotarians is all about.” Allen continued, “We are excited to help Gwinnett Tech’s Early Education Center with this project and can’t wait to see the upgrades when the project is complete.”
