Emergency Services

Prepares students to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who need access to the local hospitals.

Gwinnett Tech's Emergency Services program, prepares students to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who need access to the local hospitals. In this program, you will learn through a combination of classroom education and hands-on training to provide exceptional care to community citizens. Students can choose from a variety of areas to study including: paramedicine, pre-paramedicine, emergency medical responder, emergency medical technician or advanced emergency medical technician.

Graduates of our Emergency Services program enjoy careers in public safety, local police and fire services, urgent care clinics and hospital emergency departments.

The EMT and Paramedic programs are approved by the Georgia Department of Public Health, Office of EMS and Trauma. The paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Profession (CoAEMSP). The paramedic program has a 100% pass rate since 2008 on the National Registry of EMTs written and practical exams and a 100% positive placement rate since 2011. The three-year average retention rate is 61 percent.

The Gwinnett Tech Paramedicine program was Georgia's first nationally accredited paramedicine EMS program.

This program is offered at Gwinnett Tech's Alpharetta-North Fulton and Lawrenceville campuses.
